On November 18, 1951, Lithuanians living in United States and Lithuanian-Americans, wishing to actively participate in the political life of the United States and to join in the struggle against international communism; to contribute to the cultural life of United States with Lithuanian traditions and our national characteristics; to promote feelings of kinship with Lithuanians outside of United States; and to dutyfully support the struggle to free Lithuania and to help the Lithuanian nation, decided to express their national solidarity as members of a new organization, the Lithuanian-American Community.
